A statement from Saint Paul Seminary rector Fr. Joseph Taphorn on President Rob Vischer, who was announced as the University of St. Thomas’ 16th president on Monday:

“On behalf of the entire Saint Paul Seminary community, I’d like to extend my congratulations to both the University of St. Thomas and President Rob Vischer on his appointment to lead the university. As a devout Catholic and devoted servant leader, Rob has been a strong supporter of the seminary. I’ve gotten to know Rob personally since becoming rector and believe he will prove an effective and compassionate leader during a pivotal time in St. Thomas’ history.

“Rob, his family and the rest of the university can be assured of our community’s prayers as we move into this new era of leadership. St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Paul, pray for us!”
