The seminary is more than a building. It is a home where seminarians become well-rounded men of faith and learn to make a sincere gift of themselves to others. The environment where they pray, study and build community is an important part of their discernment process.

$10 million will be used to enhance the current facilities to meet the needs of today’s formation program and adequately support the spiritual and community life of the seminary.

Enhancements include:

  • An expanded chapel
  • Priest residence rooms
  • Guest rooms for visiting bishops and vocation directors
  • Meeting space for spiritual direction
  • Multipurpose room with kitchen for community meals
  • Classroom for spiritual and human formation conferences
  • Staff offices

Your gift helps create an environment that meets the increased program needs for today’s college seminarians, supports the vibrant spiritual and community life of the seminary, and allows priestly discernment to flourish.

This is the third phase of a multi-year plan to reimagine the facilities at Saint John Vianney College Seminary.

Our parishes, our schools and our communities thrive under the leadership of those who are committed to the faith and guide others with humility, kindness and courage.

Three new programs have recently been developed to complement the seminary’s existing priestly formation and graduate degree programs:

• Institute for Ongoing Clergy Formation
• Institute for Catholic School Leadership
• Institute for Diaconate Formation

$20 million will cover the first five years of operating costs for these institutes and establish scholarships and dedicated endowment funds to sustain the programs into the future.

Like the core programs of the seminary, these institutes prepare, support and instruct Christian disciples who lead by example and serve as witnesses to the saving love of Jesus Christ. Their commitment to the faith and their dedication  to servant leadership will transform our parishes, schools and communities.

Your gift to support these programs helps prepare highly effective leaders to build up the kingdom of God.

Priestly formation is the heart of the seminary’s mission, preparing men to live holy lives of service.

The cost of higher education—and the expanded scope and depth of priestly formation—require a significant amount of resources.  The seminary’s endowment currently covers approximately 16 percent of the cost of the priestly formation program, funding annual formation for 30 seminarians.

$17 million will provide permanent funding for the annual formation of an additional 20 seminarians.

In essence, this support enables seminarians to freely answer God’s call to the priesthood. Upon completion of their studies and ordination, they return to their dioceses to serve God’s people with mercy, truth and compassion.

Your gift makes that possible by keeping the cost of seminary education affordable and providing long-term, dependable resources to prepare good men to become great priests for generations to come.
