Self Leadership: Integrating and Caring for Your ‘Parts,’ Leading with Your Self

Details

Date:
August 13
Time:
12:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Event Category:

Presented by Paul Ruff
Location: To be determined

Minnesota comic Louie Anderson has a bit in which he talks about calling in to work to report, “I can’t come in; I am only five years old this morning!” The fact that everyone laughs tells us that this is a readily recognizable human experience. We are only one self, but we have fractured parts.

Internal Family Systems has become a powerful model in understanding our internal multiplicity and how to care for ourselves and lead others from the rich resources of our true self (what St. Paul might call “our inmost self”) rather than our reactive parts. This model has undergone a good deal of integration by Catholic therapists who find it very consonant with our faith.

You are invited for an afternoon with the following goals: 1) Provide you with an explanation of the model and its Catholic integration; 2) Guide you through safe exercises in which you can test the model against your own experience;  3) Explore together the application of this model in self-care, discernment, and pastoral leadership in ministry to your parishioners.

As a follow-up, we will also offer an ongoing, live or Zoom consultation group in IFS application for those interested.
