Individuals who make a deferred gift or bequest to The Saint Paul Seminary School of Divinity join The Hill Society.

The Hill Society recognizes donors to The Saint Paul Seminary who have given legacy gifts that sustain and advance the seminary's mission. Anyone who provides for the future of The Saint Paul Seminary with a planned gift or bequest is eligible for membership in the Hill Society.

Inspired by his Catholic wife, Mary, James J. Hill (president of the Great Northern Railroad) gave $500,000 in 1890 to found The Saint Paul Seminary. Their gift built and sustained a seminary that has now sent more than 3,000 priests forth to serve our parishes, our communities, our dioceses, and our world. Today, nearly 350 individuals have followed their lead and made a legacy gift that will benefit the seminarians and graduate theology students at The Saint Paul Seminary School of Divinity for generations to come.

As a member of the Hill Society, you are remembered at each Mass celebrated at The Saint Paul Seminary. You are also invited to be our guest at the annual Hill Society Luncheon, where you can learn recent news about the seminary and the programs that your support will continue to make possible.

If you would like more information about the Hill Society or have already included The Saint Paul Seminary in your estate plans, please contact Director of Institutional Advancement Tizoc Rosales: (tizoc.rosales@stthomas.edu or 651-962-5056).  Knowledge of your future gift helps us in our financial planning and ensures that your gift is properly designated when it is received.

The endowment at The Saint Paul Seminary School of Divinity helps to provide a perpetual source of support for the seminary's mission.  Anyone can make a gift of any size to support the general endowment of The Saint Paul Seminary.  Simply complete our online donation form and designate your gift to The Saint Paul Seminary endowment in the comments field.

You may also establish a designated or restricted endowment (now or as part of an estate gift) to honor a loved one or support a specific purpose (such as scholarships).  As an endowed fund, only a portion of the fund's investment income is used each year to support a specific component of the seminary's work which you may designate.  The fund's initial principle is retained, and the income provides the seminary with long-term, dependable resources.

For more information about establishing a named endowed fund, contact Director of Institutional Advancement Tizoc Rosales: (651) 962-5056 or tizoc.rosales@stthomas.edu.

A donor-advised fund is a unique charitable giving vehicle that allows individuals, families and organizations to contribute to a fund and then recommend grants to their favorite charitable causes. It combines the benefits of personal giving with the advantages of a professionally managed investment account, offering flexibility, convenience, and strategic philanthropy all in one.
