School of Discipleship

Taught by renowned catechist Jeff Cavins and guest teacher Dr. Mary Healy from Sacred Heart Seminary in Detroit, The Saint Paul Seminary Catechetical Institute's School of Discipleship is open to all adults and teaches the basics of discipleship, how to share your faith with confidence and how to cultivate a deeper life of prayer.

In this seven-week course, students become “activated disciples” and embark on a guided 40-day discipleship challenge to help put what they learn into practice. The course culminates in an inspirational and interactive Activated Disciple Seminar.

If you have not gone through the Pillars Program but are interested in taking your faith to the next level, this experience is for you.

It is a life-changing experience that begins with seven weekly one-hour teachings by renowned catechist and Saint Paul Seminary instructor Jeff Cavins, followed by time with Jesus in adoration. After the seven lessons, we begin a 40-Day Discipleship Challenge where we put into practice the disciplines of a disciple. Students receive a 40-Day Discipleship Challenge journal that guides them through each day, along with encouraging videos from Jeff every other day. After the 40-Day Discipleship Challenge, we gather together for an interactive Activated Discipleship Seminar.

The quick answer is "kind of." Throughout the seven-week course, we will strive each day to be disciples of Jesus. So, while this may take some work, it is our hope that we don't just confine it to our homes, but share Jesus everywhere we go.

This will be a journey with a special emphasis on creating the life of a disciple.

Following these lessons, you'll embark on a 40-Day Discipleship Challenge during which you'll use a 40-Day Challenge journal and receive inspirational videos from catechist Jeff Cavins throughout the week. The tentative date of Saturday, May 17 has been set for a follow-up seminar to be inspired and to share your experience.
