The Saint Paul Seminary Institute for Ongoing Clergy Formation and the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis Office of Worship offer the Ars Celebrandi with Fr. Tom Margevicius on November 7 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at St. John the Baptist in New Brighton.

The goal of this event is to reinvigorate our desire and ability to celebrate liturgy well, recalling if we emerge from liturgy without being changed (perceived or not), we haven’t celebrated it well. “All should hold in great esteem the liturgical life of the diocese centered around the bishop… they must be convinced that the pre-eminent manifestation of the Church consists in the full active participation of all God’s holy people in these liturgical celebrations, especially in the same eucharist, in a single prayer, at one altar, at which there presides the bishop surrounded by his college of priests and by his ministers.” (SC, 41)

This event will reflect on what we are celebrating in liturgy, why we do what we do and how we should do it, with a view toward ever increasing interiority, divinization and charity in mission. Attention will be given to a sound understanding of the Church’s mind regarding the proper sense of the “vertical” and “horizontal” aspects of the liturgy. There will also be plenty of opportunities for questions and discussion.
