Interviewed by Sharon Abercrombie on the topic of seminarians and rural ministry and land stewardship.  Dr. Thompson was quoted in her article titled “Seminarians head out to the fields” in the National Catholic Reporter.  February 27-March 12, 2015.

Appointment to Director of the Center for Theological Formation 2015.

Served as Academic Dean 2006-2015.

Member of the Board of Directors for Catholic Rural Life and serves on the Board of the International Catholic Rural Association for the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace.

Participated in the Terrence J. Murphy Institute’s Hot Topics: Cool Talk series on December 3, 2013 titled “Green Thomism and GMO’s.” Co-sponsored by the Environmental Law Society at UST School of Law.

Hosted a national conference on “The Evolving Theological Creation.” 2013-2014.

Presented the address “The Work of Man as Instrument of a Just Society,” at the European Study Meeting of International Catholic Rural Life in collaboration with Europäische Zentrum für Arbeitnehmerfragen (EZA) in Chaina (Crete, Greece), December 1, 2012.

Served as guest editor for Aquinas and the Environment, Nova et Vetera, English Edition.  10/1 (2012).

Continued to serve on the Executive Committee of the National Catholic Rural Life Conference; in June of 2012 was elected to the Board of Directors for the International Catholic Rural Association in Rome, Italy, working in collaboration with the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace.

Presented the keynote address “Right Relationships in Faith: Farming and the Creative Good” at the Catholic Social Ministry Gathering in Washington, D.C., January, 2012.

Coordinated the national conference hosted at SPSSOD on the topic of Nature as Norm and delivered the keynote address, “An Unusual Suggestion: Agriculture and Catholic Higher Education.” 2010-2011.
