A joyful milestone: 17 seminarians were instituted as ministers of the Word of God

Ten dioceses throughout the Midwest and beyond, celebrated 17 men being instituted into the ministry of lector at The Saint Paul Seminary this year.
During seminary formation, lectors proclaim Scripture, recite the Psalms, lead general intercessions when a deacon isn’t present and promote active participation in the liturgy. Institution as a lector is a key step on the path toward service as an acolyte, transitional deacon and priest.
Becoming a lector doesn’t necessarily indicate a commitment to the priesthood, but it is a significant milestone on the path toward ordination.
Sunday, Feb. 8 in St. Mary’s Chapel, The Most Reverend Peter Christensen, of the Diocese of Boise, instituted 16 seminarians to the ministry of lector:

- Ryan Edward Olenick, Boise
- Dominic Joseph Romportl, ASPM
- Joseph Robert Seidel, ASPM
- Jon Patrick Stone, Crookston

- Kyle Thomas Wozniak, Omaha
Diocese of Fargo seminarian, Kade Alan Palmer, will be instituted into the ministry over the summer in North Dakota.
