Master of Arts in Catholic School Leadership for Mission and Culture

The program goals of the Certificate in Catholic School Leadership:

• Develop school leaders grounded in the Catholic intellectual tradition, who are faithful disciples of Christ and credible witnesses of the faith.
• Develop school leaders capable of nurturing and sustaining the Catholic ethos, identity, and character of a Catholic educational institution.
• Develop school leaders with the practical skills necessary to manage complex, non-profit educational institutions effectively and successfully in the twenty-first century.

In addition to the application requirements, these additional items are required for a complete application to the Master of Arts in Catholic School Leadership for Mission and Culture:

• A personal statement detailing the applicant’s expectations of The Saint Paul Seminary, goals in seeking the master’s degree, and noting involvement in Catholic education.
• Resume
• Three letters of recommendation evaluating the applicant’s academic abilities and readiness for graduate-level study are required. At least one letter must be provided by a pastor.
• Optional academic writing sample.

The Master of Arts in Catholic School Leadership for Mission and Culture is a 37 credit degree program addressing essential topics in leading Catholic schools for mission and ministry.

• 19 required credits: Fulfilled by completion of the Certificate in Catholic School Leadership.
• 18 elective credits: Fulfilled by completion of one of three pathways.
• Completion of the Master of Arts in Catholic School Leadership for Mission and Culture capstone portfolio.

Electives in the Master of Arts in Catholic School Leadership for Mission and Culture can be fulfilled by the completion of one of the three elective pathways. Working with their academic advisor, students will choose the elective pathway that best suits their academic and professional goals as Catholic school leaders.

Students complete the Certificate in Catholic School Leadership & the Certificate in the Mission and Culture of Catholic Education (Catholic Studies) in their entirety.

As a part of the Master of Arts in Catholic School Leadership for Mission and Culture, each student must complete the Certificate in Catholic School Leadership. The Certificate in Catholic School Leadership has an in-person participation requirement. Students are required to be on campus for two weeks in June for two consecutive summers. Remaining courses provide a flexible learning experience for students which include both online and in person options
